Liza Vanderspeigle is a character in the science fiction comedy television series Resident Alien. She is portrayed by Taylor Blackwell.
Character overview[]
Liza Vanderspeigle is the teenage daughter of Harry Vanderspeigle. In her youth, the two of them were very close, often going on fishing trips together. However, the two became estranged once Harry divorced her mother and later married a woman named Isabelle. Every so often the two would meet and Harry would at least try to pretend to be a father to her, but without much sincerity. Liza comes to Patience, Colorado seeking Harry, not realizing that her father has been killed and replaced by an alien impostor. The Harry alien wants nothing to do with the situation, but is prodded to act like a father by his friend Asta Twelvetrees, and the two end up developing an unexpected connection.
When Harry, stripped of his alien energy, wishes to bond with his half-human/half-alien son, Bridget, he insists on him taking on a human form and he chooses that of Liza, having absorbed some of her DNA from the cabin. He, however, is annoyed at Harry taking him on a fishing trip and refusing to accept him as he is.
