Nathan Fillion is an actor who voices the octopus 42 in a recurring role on Syfy's Resident Alien. Show creator Chris Sheridan originally considered having the role voiced by show star Alan Tudyk, but recruited Fillion on Tudyk's suggestion.[1]

Nathan Fillion previously appeared as the lead character Malcolm Reynolds, starring alongside Resident Alien star Alan Tudyk in the short-lived FOX sci-fi western series Firefly. The two would reunite for Serenity, a film based upon the series. Following the series, Fillion has become known for his roles as lead character Richard Castle on ABC's crime/mystery series Castle, and more recently as John Nolan on ABC's The Rookie.
