Character overview[]
While Jenny Bach was carrying Robert's pregnancy, she was abducted by grey aliens while on a bus with her husband, Peter Bach. The Greys froze time for everyone on the bus. Thus Robert began a strange existence in which he was under the Greys' control, but every so often the Greys would abduct either Peter or Jenny and allow them to see him, having implanted tracking chips within them to always know their locations.
He is a talented sketch artist who draws Harry a number of pictures of Harry's friends when the two of them are imprisoned together.
Plot summary[]
Robert. Stop. Don't go to him. You belong to us.
A grey alien in the form of the human Joseph to Robert Hutchins, "Best of Enemies"
Abduction[]
One day, approximately 30 years before 2022, Peter Bach was riding the bus with his visibly pregnant wife Jenny. The two of them discussed issues such as crib sheets, birth cloths and the type of baby food they were going to feed their child. Suddenly there was an electrical whirring and time stopped. Unknown to either of them, the grey aliens abducted Jenny and Peter, implanting a tracker in each of them, then returned them to the bus, where Jenny was no longer pregnant, but otherwise unharmed, the Greys having abducted her unborn child. Seeing this, she screamed.
A strange life[]
Every so often, the Greys, knowing exactly where to find Peter and Jenny because of the tracking chips, would abduct them, allowing them to see to see their child, who would eventually come to be known as Robert Hutchins. Exactly why they did this is unknown. The first incident of this was shortly after they originally abducted Robert. The two of them were in the kitchen of their family home in New York City and Jenny had made a cake with a clown on it and placing two candles, to represent what would have been her child's second birthday. Peter complimented her on going all out and Jenny replied that it was a special day, that he or she would have been two today. He went to her, suggesting they try again, but she told him it was too soon. He agreed to wait, lighting the candles, and telling her to just let him know when she was ready and he would bring his "A game."
Peter asked if it was okay if they sang "Happy Birthday," but just then, Jenny disappeared. He looked around, confused, and suddenly heard a scream from behind him. Turning around, he saw Jenny. He asked her what the hell had happened and she told him that they took her again. "I saw our baby," she told him. "It's a boy. It's a boy!" She screamed again as the candles on the cake smoked, having gone out. Thus began a strange series of experiences in which every so often the Greys would abduct either Jenny, Peter, or both and allow them to see their son.
The prisoner[]

Monitor showing Robert Hutchins in a cell
Robert was captured by General McCallister and Lisa Casper, two agents working at a secret government black site in Wyoming created and run by McCallister to study alien activity on Earth. McCallister believed Robert to be an alien, one of a number that she had captured and was holding within the facility. The two of them observed Robert in his cell, pounding on the wall and mouthing, demanding to be released. Lisa asked what McCallister what she thought about "the new one" and McCallister replied that she wasn't sure yet, but that she would find the truth about all of them. The monitor on which they observed him had captions reading "Subject Alias: Robert Hutchins" and that he was captured in Cambridge, Massachusetts and had so far been detained for eight hours.
Later, McCallister is forced to go on the run with David Logan after discovering that a mole has infiltrated her organization. She has David Logan remotely activity monitor at the black site, trying to figure out who the mole is. He zeroes in on footage of Robert, pleading with a guard and telling him that he's not alien, that the aliens are the ones who took him. McCallister dismisses it as "nothing," but in the facility, the guard, "Joseph Rainier," speaks telepathically with Robert, saying that he remembers and he's not supposed to remember. He tells him that if he wants to stay alive to remember that he belongs to them. He slams Robert against the wall of the cell, then exits.
Reunion and escape[]
Robert remains a prisoner inside the black site, which McCallister has retaken control of. One day, Robert's father breaks into the site along with Harry Vanderspeigle, an alien who has adopted the identity of a human doctor. The two of them institute a prison break, Peter unaware of the fact that Robert is being held there and simply trying to gain information while creating chaos for McCallister. When he sees Robert on a monitor, he goes to him, ignoring McCallister's pleas to release her, that she can help him. Robert, seeing Peter, starts to go to him, only for Joseph Rainier to telepathically tell him stop, saying that he belongs to them.
Robert ignores Joseph's warning and Joseph tells him that he's made the wrong choice. He then fires a pistol, but Peter jumps in front of Robert, taking the bullet for him instead. Harry then ambushes Joseph and throttles him before leaving him to the other escaped prisoners. He then goes to Peter, who tells him that it's too late for him, but to save his son. Harry and Peter then begin a desperate escape from the prison. Along the way, Harry encounters General McCallister, but does not kill her, as he received a warning from his future self, Goliath, telling him not to. The two make their way out of the facility and head back to Harry's cabin in Patience, Colorado.
Abducted again[]
In the aftermath, Robert lives in Harry's cabin for the time being. Harry, not quite understanding parenting, behaves like a stereotypical parent, telling Robert to go to his room and otherwise reciting lines he's heard parents use on television. Robert tells Harry that he can't stay, that he needs to get on with his life. He furthermore is absolutely against Harry's idea of returning with him to his home planet. Harry then gives Robert one of his alien balls, telling him that it will keep him safe. Robert then heads off for a bus stop. Late at night, however, he is once again abducted by The Greys. One of them takes Harry's alien ball, claiming it from himself, and it glows a sickly green in his hand. Next to Robert is Ben Hawthorne, the mayor of Patience and nearby in an incubation chamber, Ben's baby, whom the Greys abducted from his wife's womb.
