Season 4 is the fourth season of the television series Resident Alien. The season was officially announced on June 18, 2024. With the announcement came the news that the program would be moving from Syfy to USA Network, something which had been previously reported as a possibility the previous month following the completion of the third season in April. The fourth season will see a reduced budget, though it is not known by exactly how much. USA Network, like Syfy, is part of the NBC Universal portfolio of brands. The series will also remain available for next-day watching on NBC Universal's streaming service Peacock. The official feed for the program on X, formerly known as Twitter, posted a promotional graphic of show star Alan Tudyk as Harry Vanderspeigle to accompany the announcement of the new season.[1]

The new season premiered as a simulcast on both Syfy and USA Network on June 6, 2025.

The new season sees Meredith Garretson assuming the role of a starring cast member for her performance as Kate Hawthorne, after having previously been credited as a guest star despite being a major character and appearing in almost all episodes of the series.

Synopsis[]

Harry and his baby Bridget stuck in prison on the Grey Moonbase, while a shape-shifting Alien called a Mantid has taken over his body on Earth passing himself off as the real Harry Vanderspeigle. Harry manages to escape the Greys and arrives back on Earth for a showdown with the Mantid Alien but soon finds he may not have what he needs to finish the job. Asta and D’arcy struggle to keep a secret from Ben and Kate, who are both desperate to find answers to what has been happening to them. Sheriff Mike and Deputy Liv attempt to solve some mysterious deaths in Patience that Sheriff Mike is beginning to think aren’t caused by anything human.

Work on Season 4 was confirmed to have begun in August 2024 by Aaron Wiener, a writer for the program.[2] On August 21, 2024, it was reported that filming is slated to begin on December 2, 2024, continuing through March 31, 2025.[3] On November 1, 2024, it was reported that Alan Tudyk would be directing the premiere episode of the season.[4] On December 20, 2024, an on-set video was posted on the program's official Instagram account.[5]

Though the premiere date is not yet known, it is currently estimated to come sometime in the second half of 2025.[6]

On March 7, 2025, it was reported that decoration for the transformation of the town of Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada into Patience, Colorado had begun in advance of on-location filming there from March 17 to 19. Though reaction was largely positive, there were some concerns about the presence of the American flag due to the recent tensions regarding tariffs levied by President Donald Trump.[7]

On March 9, 2025, it was revealed that Jewel Staite, who previously appeared together with Alan Tudyk as Kaylee Frye in Firefly and the followup film Serenity, will be a guest star in Season 4.[8]

On April 29, 2025, it was reported that Stephen Root had been cast as the human form of Harry Vanderspeigle's alien father, who comes gto Earth with the agenda to "push Harry to go back to his evil alien roots."[9]

On May 1, 2025, it was reported that Season 4 of Resident Alien will premiere on June 6, 2025 and will be a simulcast on both USA Network and Syfy, as well as releasing one week after on NBC Universal's Peacock streaming platform. The new season will feature Harry Vanderspeigle escaping from his imprisonment on the moon and confronting the Mantid who has assumed his identity, but being hindered by a Grey device that prevents him from assuming his alien form.[10]

On May 28, 2025, Syfy released a behind the scenes video on the making of Season 4.
